The study of single and binary star distributions over the specific angular momentum (SAM) makes it possible to estimate the probable limits to the SAM which are necessary for the formation of planetary systems. The basic properties of planetary systems are analyzed as a function of the mass of the central star. The feasibility of using photometry to detect giant Jupiter-type planets around close stars with masses in the range of 0.1-0.4 solar masses is demonstrated.
