The application of spinor theory to the study of geomagnetic multipoles
is considered. It is shown that this theory can be used to obtain an
algebraic equation for determining the axes of geomagnetic multipoles
which is simpler than that obtained by the Sylvester method for
computing the axes of spherical functions.
