A proof is presented for the existence of central configurations with a certain standard distribution of libration points for an arbitary number of bodies. Attention is focused on circular configurations and it is proved that for certain circular configurations there exist central configurations close to them. It is pointed out that a circular configuration can be represented as a plane system of point bodies consisting of several bodies along a certain circle and a body at the center of this circle, with the gravitational force acting on each body lying on the circle being directed toward the center of the circle.
