The present investigation deals with a rotating, gravitating, homogeneous, magnetized fluid body having nearly the shape of a MacLaurin spheroid. In the first part of the investigation the reasons have been discussed for applying the considered model to the study of neutron-star configurations. The second part of the study is concerned with the determination of the configuration parameters which arise when both post-Newtonian and magnetic perturbations are taken into account. A comparison of the obtained results with those of other authors shows that if post-Newtonian and magnetic effects are considered jointly and systematically, as done for the first time in this investigation, the character of the solutions will be decisively affected. The equation of the surface of the body is established, and the values of its coefficients are examined. It is pointed out that during the early life of a pulsar the angular rotation speed and magnetic field strength can attain very high values. The effects discussed would then dictate the further evolution of the pulsar.
