We have measured the molecular gas mass and the CO profile characteristics for over fifty ultraluminous infrared galaxies (ULIRGs) with the IRAM 30m telescope. This is the largest CO survey of ULIRGs to date. Additional data from literature has allowed us to compile the largest sample (85 low redshift objects, with 1011.5 < LIR < 1013Lsolar) for which homogeneous data are available, covering the different phases of the merging process and the different types of nuclear activity found in ULIRGs. Some preliminary results are presented here. At this high luminosities, the LIR does not correlate with the LCO. The kinematics of the molecular gas mass, as measured by the CO line width, does not correlate with activity or evolutionary phase. The average ratio of the FIR flux to the radio flux for HII and Liner ULIRGs is a factor of 2 higher than for Seyfert ULIRGs. However, the contribution of the AGN to the IR is not negligible, as shown by the star formation efficiency which, on average, is higher in active galaxies than in HII and Liner galaxies.
