The observation of two occultations among the satellites of Saturn revealed a difference from the predicted time of these events. In the first case, 304P.20, the partial (20 percent) occultation of Dione by Tethys on April 5, 1980 was observed at 20 h 31 m UT, about one minute in advance of the predicted time. In the second case, 5E3P.49, the partial (49 percent) occultation of Tethys by Rhea on April 20, 1980 was observed at 22 h 23 m 45 s, about three minutes in advance of the predicted time. A counting photometer was employed, and a photographic procedure was performed to complement the photometric observations. Because Tethys is involved in both events, a small difference between its true and theoretical longitude may exist.
