The radio radiation and other radiative characteristics of the slowly varying component (SVC) are examined by means of a model of electron temperature and density and incorporating a dipole magnetic field. The model is based on recent EUV data regarding the chromosphere-corona transition region. The plasma electron temperature, density, and magnetic field are studied as a function of height above the photosphere and distance from a region defined as active. The SVC is examined in terms of the gyroresonance radiation and bremsstrahlung to characterize flux-density spectra, degree of polarization, and brightness temperature and distribution. SVC radiation varies directly with magnetic field and wavelength, the spectrum of SVC brightness temperature varies directly with magnetic field, and the spectrum of flux density is the most important feature of SVC radiation. The analytical data and conclusions are found to agree with observational results.
