The subsonic-to-supersonic transition area of the solar wind flow is
studied via five natural radio sounding sources used simultaneously. The
observations were performed in June 1988 at a 2.9-m wavelength. As the
sources passed different heliolatitudes, a 2D mapping of the solar wind
transonic region was obtained.
