Radio observations of 3C 428, which may be an extragalactic source lying near the galactic plane, have been made using the Very Large Array. These have provided new information on the variation of spectral index, polarization and rotation measure across this source. Indications of a possible optical identification are given. The source has the properties of a classical Type II extragalactic source and is possibly a radio galaxy.
