The statistical association of background QSOs and foreground galaxies has been seen on scales from a few arcminutes to 1°. This association is believed to be the result of weak gravitational lensing of the QSOs by foreground mass structures which are traced by the galaxies. However, very little is known about these lensing mass structures. While Fort et al. (1996) have seen additional evidence for lensing in the form of coherent shear in the fields of select QSOs, there is to date no information about the location of these lensing structures along the QSO line of sight or their true extent in redshift. We intend to observe the region around 5 QSOs identified by Norman & Impey (2000) as having likely been magnified by foreground mass at lower redshift. We will search for evidence of poor galaxy clusters that trace this lensing mass and determine their redshifts by obtaining images in 4 filters (UBVI) in order to calculate their photometric redshifts. This preliminary work will enable us to return to QSOs with known foreground lenses to look for other evidence of weak lensing of faint galaxies behind these lenses.
