Several independent studies suggest that an essential fraction (a few or a few tens of %) of the long gamma-ray bursts - collected in the BATSE Catalog - should be at very high redshifts; i.e. at z > 5. In this contribution, first, these studies are surveyed; then, second, it is shown by a statistical argument that the non-detection of the corresponding population of high-z afterglows should be an observational bias.
