Scientific paper
The paper describes briefly the Spacelab equipment for ultraviolet photometry, infrared spectroscopy, and submillimeter observations. The UV experiment has a weight of 59 kg and occupies a volume of 140 x 50 x 50 cm, and will be used for observing the companions of Cepheid stars. The infrared experiment will employ a telescope used previously in balloon-borne experiments. The instrument weighs 150 kg and the telescope has a 60-cm diameter. It will be used to measure line intensities in the range 20-300 microns in order to obtain information on interstellar molecules. The submillimeter telescope will be used for both astronomical and atmospheric observations.
