The X-ray structures and spectra of three radio galaxies observed with ROSAT and ASCA (NGC 4261, NGC 6251, and 3C 346) are discussed in terms of intrinsic absorption at a level consistent with the presence of dusty disks seen in HST imaging and HI absorption, an environment of hot (keV) gas consistent with the host galaxy being embedded in a significant group or cluster, and a small-scale component associated with the nucleus of the galaxy. However, the results are not unambiguous. We discuss the observational issues and physical uncertainties that the ambiguities imply, and relate these data to a general model of radio-galaxy nuclei.
