Cosmic Gamma-ray Bursts are amongst the most fascinating astronomical objects known. New observations and theoretical developments have led to a great progress in understanding GRBs in recent years. I describe the Fireball model and its predictions (including the prediction of an optical flash) and compare them with the recent observations gamma-ray, X-ray optical and radio observations of these objects. I focus on the recent observation of the incredible burst GRB990123.
