A theoretical analysis is presented to study the perturbation of weakly ionized ionospheric plasma by the field of a high-power standing radio wave in the case when the mean free path of electrons is comparable to radio wavelength. Plasma density disturbances are induced by striction and thermal effects. At a height of 120 km, plasma density is modulated primarily by striction effects.
