The spectrochemical analysis of germanium in blende specimens, predominantly from British localities, is described. The results confirm the conclusions of other workers that germanium is present in highest concentration in blende deposited at low temperatures. The incorporation of germanium in blende is discussed in the light of size and valency considerations and the structure of the germanium sulphides.
