A method of rotational-temperature determination is developed which automatically takes into account the line optical depth of a molecular layer. To verify the method, the variation of rotational temperature and turbulent velocity across the solar disk is obtained from CO line observations. The optical depth of the reversing layer at the line center is also determined. It is shown that the assumption of an optically thin molecular layer can significantly distort the temperature and turbulent-velocity values, particularly at the solar limb.
