The response of a galactic disk to a ram pressure due to an intergalactic gas is studied; it is found that the ram pressure excites a spiral structure in the disk. Development of a prominent spiral structure is demonstrated by a simple numerical simulation of a gas disk subjected to a ram pressure. The spiral structure induced by a ram pressure is a wave phenomenon, and, in contrast to the normal spiral waves, it is single-armed and slowly rotates in a retrograde direction. The sense of the spiral is trailing with respect to the pattern rotation; thus the spiral is apparently leading with respect to the galatic rotation. The spiral pattern slowly winds up in a retrograde direction.
