It is shown that a revised theory of photographic meteor noticeability taking the laboratory simulation of meteoric phenomena into account allows us to approximate the orbital distribution of radio and photographic meteors. A more correct calculation of the effect of light pressure and the Poynting-Robertson effect on the motion of interplanetary dust particles leads to an explanation of the observed ultraviolet brightness excess in the zodiacal light and the relative deficit of the orbits with retrograde motion for these particles in comparison with larger meteoroids.
