The line-of-sight component of the magnetic field strength in the H II region S232 has been determined by measuring the Faraday rotation of the extragalactic background source 4C +36.11. The two lobes of this source have rotation measures of 660 and 760 rad/sq m, produced mainly by S232. The emission measure of S232 at the position of 4C +36.11 is probably 460 per cm to the 6th pc. In S232, the ratio of the line of sight component of the magnetic field to the electron density is approximately equal to 1.9 microgauss/cu cm and if the electron density is approximately equal to 5/cu cm, the line of sight component of the magnetic field is approximately equal to 9.5 microgauss. These results are consistent with current empirical knowledge of magnetic field strengths.
