Observed data consisting of the Stokes parameters of individual pulsar
pulses are examined, and four classes of polarization patterns are
identified. An investigation is made of the hypothesis that the circular
polarization arises from a simple quasi-transverse propagation effect.
The results of the latter investigation do not confirm the hypothesis.
