AGU Chapman Conference: Examining Ecohydrological Feedbacks of Landscape Change Along Elevation Gradients in Semiarid Regions;Sun Valley, Idaho, 5-8 October 2009; Unprecedented and complex changes are occurring in semiarid regions in the United States and across the globe. These changes include massive die-offs of trees, invasion by nonnative species, altered fire regimes, woody plant encroachment, and desertification. All of these changes affect how water moves and is allocated in these landscapes, which in turn affects ecological interactions. The feedbacks and interactions between the drivers of change and the responses to change are exceedingly complex. An AGU Chapman Conference was held in Idaho to examine the ecohydrological feedbacks of landscape change along elevation and precipitation gradients in semiarid regions. The conference drew more than 100 participants, including many students and early-career scientists.
