A study is made of the modulation instability of one-dimensional Langmuir waves with phase velocity close to the velocity of light propagating in a relativistic plasma. For these waves, a relativistic kinetic equation and Maxwell's equations are used to obtain a nonlinear Schroedinger equation with allowance for nonlinear Landau damping. The ranges of variation of the plasma parameters for which a relativistic Langmuir soliton can exist are found. Both three- and one-dimensional models of a plasma are considered. It is assumed that the considered processes can take place in the magnetosphere of pulsars.
