Lunar crustal thickness maps were constructed for the scenario in which the observed gravity anomaly is due to relief along the surface as well as relief along an intracrustal interface. The average crustal thickness in the South Pole-Aitken (SPA) basin is close to zero. If it is assumed that the upper crust is compensated entirely at the intracrustal boundary, lower crustal material should be exposed to the surface within the SPA basin.
