Selection effects in the emission-line identification of QSO redshifts and their implications for the QSO redshift distribution are investigated, extending the analysis of Zhou et al. (1983). The effects are analyzed separately for slitless and modified-slit observation techniques, assuming cosmological redshift in a standard cosmological model. The calculated disributions are compared with observational data in graphs and found to be in good agreement when beta = -8 to -10, with correlation coefficients greater than 0.95 for the slitless technique and up to 0.80 for the slit technique. These findings are considered strong evidence in favor of cosmological redshift, while redshift clustering is attributed to selection effects. A new method for calculating the cosmological parameter q0 is discussed.
