Though rare, the stars of the Luminous Blue Variable (LBV) class are crucial objects for understanding the evolution of massive stars. However, there are still many open questions related to LBVs and this is especially the case for their properties in the X-ray domain. Indeed, up to now, no X-ray survey of the Galactic LBVs has ever been performed. We propose to fill that gap thanks to the sensitive XMM-Newton observatory. This X-ray campaign is also aimed at complementing our GTO (key programme) survey of LBVs with ESA's forthcoming Herschel observatory.
