Japan's Earth Observation Satellites include GMS series, MOS-1/1b, JERS-1, ADEOS, TRMM and follow-on ADEOS (ADEOS-II, etc). GMS-4, MOS-1/1b are in service. JERS-1 was successfully launched in Feb. 1992. GMS-5, ADEOS and TRMM are under development. Japan's Earth Observation Satellites Program aim various Global Change Research Program and contribute to international science community. In order to succeed and enhance these objectives, NASDA is conducting a conceptual study of follow-on ADEOS and other earth observation satellites in late 1990's and 21st century.
