The author presents statistical methods and their applications to study the large-scale structures of the universe indicated by different objects. One obtains from the observational data a number of statistical results that give constraints to the current models of galaxy formation. Contents: 1. Modelling the universe. 2. Mapping the universe. 3. Measuring the universe. 4. Correlation functions of galaxies. 5. Morphological segregation of galaxies on large scales. 6. Luminosity segregation of galaxies. 7. The distribution of clusters of galaxies.
