Observations of the acoustic oscillations of the sun taken over a period of eight years are presented and discussed in terms of their implications regarding the nature of the deep solar interior. Stable atomic standards are used to integrate light from the whole solar disc, and the data taken over the course of the measurements are averaged to examine the mean frequencies for all the modes. The quality of the data allows comparisons with solar theories as well as the analysis of long-term solar cycle trends.
