The physical theory of meteors is capable of forecasting the depth of penetration of chondrites of types H, L, C2, C1 with weights in excess of 0.1 kg into Mars' atmosphere. As compared to the earth's atmosphere, corresponding bolids end 20 to 30 km lower on Mars, whereas the altitudes of their beginnings are lower by about 10 km. The calculated impact energies of chondrites on Mars' surface permit the determination of the lower limit of the dimensions of the impact craters.
