The authors present results from an ongoing identification program of ROSAT All-Sky Survey (RASS) sources on objective prism plates. More than 30% of the surveyed sources so far (9949 on ca. 8000 deg2) are AGN candidates with B ≤ 18.5. AGN with typical X-ray to optical flux ratios can principally be recognized down to the RASS flux limit, but large fractions of AGN with higher log(fX/fB) values are missed on the plates due to their optical faintness. The RASS AGN surface density depends strongly on Galactic absorption and therefore Galactic latitude. This reflects the steep X-ray spectra found with ROSAT.
