Seyfert Galaxies: Uv Variations, Seyfert Galaxies: X-Ray Variations

Monitoring observations of the two Seyfert 1 galaxies NGC 5548 and RX J0054-2222 have been performed simultaneously with ROSAT and IUE. The variations of the ultraviolet and soft X-ray excess components seem to be linked. They are however decoupled from the observed hard X-ray variations. A crude reprocessing model where the accretion disk is heated by hard X-rays does not reproduce the observations.
