Seyfert Galaxies: X-Ray Lines
Scientific paper
The authors present the results of ASCA observations of iron K-shell line features in Seyfert-1 galaxies. They found broad line features in MCG -6-30-15, Fairall 9, and NGC 4051. The line widths (σ) are all broader than 0.5 keV. The skewed profiles show that most of the line photons in these objects are generated at the innermost radii of an accretion disk. The inclination angles of accretion disks of these sources are smaller than 30 deg. The equivalent widths are 300-600 eV. The line profile of a few other sources and the emission region of the X-ray continuum are also discussed briefly.
