The authors are investigating a small sample of nearby Seyfert galaxies with ROSAT in the X-ray as well as in the optical in order to study small scale structures near to the central regions of active galactic nuclei. Elongated structures were seen in the raw HRI data in the central regions of the galaxies over scales of ≡10″ A detailed analysis of the satellite motions showed these elongations to be artificial. The authors corrected their X-ray data by using a despeckle algorithm and compared them to VLA maps and optical images of the galaxies. There is no clear evidence for extended X-ray counterparts of observed small scale radio jets. Adjusting point sources to the central X-ray sources the authors found more than 95% of the X-ray flux originating in the unresolved nuclei.
