The great progress made during the last years in the field of close
binary systems, and especially in the eclipsing binaries, is presented
and discussed. The development of software for analyzing the huge amount
of observational data sets, from both ground-based and space surveys, is
presented. The latest achieved interesting results are mentioned, too.
