Prominent emission line features were observed with the SIS sensors (CCD cameras) on board ASCA from low mass X-ray binaries (LMXB), 4U 1626-67 and GX 1+4, and massive X-ray binaries (HMXB), GX 301-2, Vel X-1, and Cen X-3. A strong emission line at 1 keV was detected in the spectrum of 4U 1626-67 and the line was identified with the hydrogenic Ne Lyα. A prominent fluorescent Kα line was detected at 6.40 keV in the spectrum of GX 1+4, yielding the estimate for the ionization degree of iron to be lower than Fe IV. From the SIS spectrum of GX 301-2 it was found that this source exhibits fluorescent Kα lines of Si, S, Ar, and Ca as well the Kα line of iron. On the other hand, spectra in two massive wind-fed pulsars, Vel X-1 and Cen X-3 show Kα lines predominantly from helium-like and hydrogenic ions of these elements, respectively. These lines are due to the recombination of highly photo-ionized plasma in the stellar wind surrounding the the neutron star.
