Ground, airborne, balloonborne, and spaceborne observations have been obtained for the brightest SN in almost 400 years, whose light arrived at the earth on February 23, 1987 from the LMC. While most theoretical expectations have been borne out, major surprises have been noted among the observations of the Sk -69 deg 202 SN. Attention is presently given to spectrum information, the results of observations at X-ray and gamma-ray wavelengths, and above all the second object that was found clearly visible to the south of the SN one year after first observation, at a projected separation of 18 light days and with a brightness 150 times brighter than the star had been before it exploded.
