The results of spectropolarimetric observations of SN 1987A, made by the Bolivian expedition of the USSR Academy of Sciences are given. The results of wideband polarimetric observations by other authors are also presented. These results have been corrected for interstellar polarization. The polarization degree in the absorption lines is noticeably higher than that in the continuous spectrum. This indicates a singificant stratification of the shell: the region of formation of absorption lines has greater nonsphericity than that of the continuous spectrum. The observations on 21 March, 1987, showed the presence of a jump in the position angle of the polarization plane by 90° in the near IR region. The magnetic field in the shell is estimated as <3×103Gauss. A direct connection has been established between the position angle of the polarization plane and the location of the compact object near SN 1987A.
