The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister has reacted to the Parliamentary Science and Technology Select Committee's recommendations on light pollution (see the 2003 December Journal) with a surprisingly far-reaching statement. A spokesperson for the ODPM stated in March 2004 that the Government intends to provide new planning guidance, in the form of an annexe to Planning Policy Statement 23 (Planning and Pollution Control), specifically on light pollution.
