Data from the high-energy cosmic-ray experiment on the ISEE 3 spacecraft have been used to obtain high-resolution measurements of the isotopic compositions of the elements boron and nitrogen and of the relative abundances of the elements B, C, N, and O in the cosmic rays arriving at Earth. These data cover the energy range ≡85 - 205 MeV amu-1. The authors find, relative to 16O, a 15N source abundance consistent with solar system composition, but a 14N source abundance which is a factor of ≡3 underabundant relative to the solar value. Recent measurements of relevant nuclear fragmentation cross sections make it unlikely that cross section errors could be responsible for this underabundance.
