The effects of atmospheric motions caused by the mutual irradiation of binary system stars on the observed radial velocities of the components of these binary systems are studied. General expressions are obtained for the radial velocity at any point of the stellar surface arising from atmospheric motions. The effects of nonrotational motions on the observed radial velocities are specified and hydrodynamical equations are formulated which specify atmospheric convection caused by irradiation of each component of a close binary by its mate.
