From an analysis of photometric data the authors show the existence of a subharmonic frequency and its multiples in the Fourier spectrum of the pulsating DB white dwarf PG 1351+489. This strongly suggests that the star has undergone a period doubling bifurcation but its temporal behavior gives evidences of a more complex dynamics. As an illustration, a simple model is developped which exhibits qualitatively a similar dynamics.
