Photoelectric UBVRI observations of 25 radio galaxies brighter than V of about 17 mag as well as 14 quasars and other stellar objects brighter than V of about 18 mag are presented and discussed. It is shown that broadband spectra and colors of the observed GB/GB2 galaxies are typical for the population of giant ellipticals, though some of the galaxies have a peculiarity in the ultraviolet band. For the quasar candidates, it is shown how the data distinguish between typical quasars and BL Lacertae objects. Two detected BL Lacs have been confirmed with further optical polarimetry, infrared photometry, and optical spectroscopy.
