UBV photometry in two fields in the direction of the galactic anticenter has been carried out using plates of the French Schmidt telescope at CERGA. The data are complete in V down to magnitude 17.5, in an area of 2 sq deg for field I (l = 179 deg, b = 2.5 deg) and in 1.5 sq deg for field II (l = 211 deg, b = 1 deg). In an area of 0.002 sq deg in field I, CCD data using the 3.6 meter Canada-France-Hawaii telescope have also been obtained to extend the photometry down to V = 21 mag. A model of population synthesis (Robin and Creze, 1986) has been used to interpret the data. The interstellar reddening has been estimated by fitting a standard sequence to color-color diagrams in parallel on real and model simulated data. The star counts strongly support the density scale lengths used in the model (corresponding to an exponential scale length of 2500 pc). The data of field II support the presence of a remote spiral arm between l = 210 and 220 deg. The data indicate that there is a deficiency in red stars predicted by the model. The open cluster Be28 has been studied using the CCD data. A color excess E(B-V) of 0.8 mag, a distance of 3.8 kpc and an age of about 10 to the 8th years have been estimated for the cluster.
