A long-wavelength second-generation infrared camera has been designed using a low-cost approach based on state-of-the-art components. A 240 x 4 long wavelength MCT focal plane array is described along with the other components. The breadboard hardware and laboratory and field tests are briefly described. The system has high thermal sensitivity, excellent image quality, and improved range performance.
