A magnetic field of -1.5 kgauss mean effective strength is indicated by measurements, 100 9 A/mm-dispersion spectrograms obtained with the 6-m reflector telescope's Zeeman achromatic analyzer, for the bright component atmosphere of the close binary system Beta Lyr. The complex spatial structure of the field is noted, along with an intensity variation over a factor of two in the course of the orbital period.
