The authors compare the spectral properties of young LMC clusters classified in age groups with the composite HR diagrams of Galactic open clusters from Mermilliod (1981). There is a strong correspondence between these evolutionary sequences in terms of phases in the stellar evolution, such as red supergiants, giants with origin in intermediate mass progenitors and Be stars.
