The orbit of Tansei 4 rocket passed through exact 15th-order resonance during February 1982. The orbit was determined at 21 epochs over a 6-month period, during which the main effects of the resonant perturbation were manifested. The inclination values have been processed to reveal the change due to resonance, and this has been used to estimate the values of two lumped geopotential harmonic coefficients corresponding to an inclination of 38.67 deg. The usefulness of the results with respect to the future evaluation of tesseral harmonic coefficients is discussed, and the values are compared with those of standard earth gravity models.
