Early results are presented from an extensive program of regular
Balmer-line spectroscopy; during eight months in 1980 H-alpha profiles
were obtained for over 100 northern Be stars. Transient emission events
have been observed in the very early rapid rotator 59 Cygni; sequential
variations in H-alpha are quasi-periodic.
