Computer techniques now allow amateurs to survey pre-programmed galaxies
with charge-coupled devices (CCDs) each night (see figures 1 and 2). I
now use 400 field scans is per night. My scanning starts as soon as the
Sun is 10° below the horizon and ends when the Sun is at 10°
below the eastern horizon....
